Beast from the East

The likelihood is that if you're reading this from Britain, you are almost certainly able to look out your window and see pure whiteness - or not so much now.

We haven't seen snow like this for a long time, but they have definitely made up for it.

The kids have been off school, hills have become free ski slopes and the country has almost come to a stand still.

The roads have been near chaos, particularly the motorways. Many drivers faced huge delays on major motorways as the snow hit during the week, with some people having to spend the night in their cars whilst still on the road.

But while many of you will have been given the day off, or simply told you don't need to come in if the commute is dangerous, give a thought to the emergency services who had no choice but to continue to work.

I say give a thought to the emergency services... BUT THINK ABOUT THOSE POOR SOULS IN RETAIL THAT STILL HAD TO TREK TO WORK JUST TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAD THEIR SUPPLIES FOR THE BIG FREEZE!

I actually heard someone I was serving the other day say - "make sure you pick up two more 9's of toilet roll, just in case." How much are you shitting that you need 18 more toilet rolls over this two day snow spree???

And breathe.

But seriously, the emergency services are the real heroes of this country. I'm sure we've all heard the story of the surgeon who walkedthree hours to work, so he could perform an operation.

Some had to pack up and stay in hotels near-by so that they were definitely there for work. And I'm sure there are worse stories about doctors and nurses who had to sleep in the hospital as they were unable to make it home or elsewhere.

So, let's give a shout out to those who couldn't have a snow day and weren't able to cut mad freshies in the pow pow, but were there to make sure that those that needed help were indeed helped.

Have you managed to enjoy the snow, or has it been nothing more than a burden? Share and comment.
